The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is proudly hosting 75 Years of Mopar, a special exhibition celebrating the brand’s evolution from a basic parts department to a global service, parts and customer-care brand.
Illustrating the 75 Years of Mopar narration are a number of muscle cars on loan from private collectors and historic artifacts, including parts in their original packaging and original parts manuals.
Family-friendly interactives let even the youngest enthusiast experience how Mopar functioned long before computers revolutionized the process. Visitors can become a Mopar counter salesperson or a Marysville Parts Depot worker. Through another interactive, Mopar fans are invited to share personal stories – especially as they relate to racing and muscle cars.
The Mopar brand was officially trademarked in 1937 at a meeting during which executives chose “MoPar,” a contraction of the words “MOtor” and “PARts,” for Chrysler’s anti-freeze, the brand’s very first product. The 75 Years of Mopar exhibition also gives enthusiasts a chance to share their creative spin on the word’s roots.
