Vehicle & Artifact Donations

What kinds of things can I donate to the Walter P. Chrysler Museum?

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum accepts donations of both vehicles and artifacts (i.e. 3-D objects) that are related to Chrysler heritage.

The Museum does not generally accept archival material (e.g. paper documents, magazines, newspapers, photographs, postcards, brochures, etc.) as it has no archival facilities. If you have archival material you would like to donate, you may consider contacting Chrysler Historical Services at:

Mailing address:

Detroit, MI 48288 USA

I have a vehicle or artifact I would like to donate to the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. What should I do?

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum accepts donation proposals in writing -- using the Donation Proposal Form (pdf). Please fill out the form completely and email, fax or mail it back to the Collections Manager using the information at the bottom of the form.

The information on this form will be used to determine if your proposed donation is appropriate for the Museum’s collections. It does not guarantee that your donation will be accepted for the Museum's collections.

If you are unable to use the online form, please call the Walter P. Chrysler Museum’s Collections Manager at 248-944-0449 and request that a copy of the donation form be mailed to you. Please try to include a photograph of the object or document with your form. You may mail back your completed form to the address below or send it via fax:

Does the museum purchase objects?

The Museum relies mostly on donated items.

Can I take a tax deduction for my donation?

Yes. The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization and thus the fair market value of your donated materials is generally tax deductible. To ensure that you receive the maximum tax benefit, it is recommended that you consult with your own accountant, attorney, and/or the Internal Revenue Service.

Will the Walter P. Chrysler Museum appraise my donation for its monetary value?
